Reiki (pronounced "ray-key") came to the United States in the late 1930's from Japan. Reiki is a stress reduction and relaxation treatment that also promotes self-healing. When we are deeply relaxed, our body has the ability to heal itself on many levels: emotional, physical, and spiritual.

We are conscious of our stress levels daily and even seasonally. In addition, stress can be present under the surface of our awareness. Stress is a major contributor to physical ailments, illness, and dis-ease.

The American Institute for Stress states:
"It has been estimated 75% - 90% of all visits to primary care physicians 
are for stress related problems."

Did you know that we experience between 60,000 - 90,000 thoughts each day? Our thoughts can limit our physical wellness, our love or compassion for others, self-esteem, personal or career potential, ability to live in the present, may bring about cycles of fear, depression, anxiety, and also limit our spiritual maturity. When negative or limiting thoughts build up and are not released in a healthy way, they distress our body's subtle energy system by inhibiting the flow of life force energy, thereby causing an imbalance. Our life force energy, known as ki (pronounced "key"), is sensitive to our thoughts and feelings we have about ourselves, how we think of others, and how we think of the world. Simply stated "thoughts are energy" whether they are positive or negative.
